Malcolm Howat founded Howco Group plc in 1982 and as Chairman and CEO for 25 years successfully established the company as a global supplier to the oilfield services sector growing revenues to over £300m with operations in USA, Canada, Singapore, China, Norway, Dubai, England and Scotland. By the end of 2006, Howco Group’s worldwide positioning had been well established with the company operating in all major oil centres around the globe and activities spanning from supply chain management to precision manufacturing and the distribution of speciality metals.

In early 2007 Malcolm lead the company into a partnership agreement with Sumitomo Corporation of Japan where they acquired a 50% stake in the business and then oversaw continued expansion for the next five years until Sumitomo increased their holding to 100%.
